CHESUNCOOK LAKE CANOE TRIP
A great trip for beginners and families, a canoe trip on Chesuncook Lake offers a wilderness experience on Maine's 3rd largest lake. A waterway made famous by Henry David Thoreau, Chesuncook Lake offers fantasic views of Katahdin, Maine's highest peak, many wildlife sightings, and is home to Maine's only roadless town, Chesuncook Village.

We'll put in at Umbazookus Stream and paddle into Chesuncook Lake from the northeastern end of the lake, (which is much less crowed than the southern end). Each night will be spent at lakeside campsites, and there will be plenty of time for relaxing, fishing, and moose watching. A paddle into Brandy Pond or Caucomgomoc Stream are excellent places to fish for Maine brook trout or view moose!
All of our canoe trips to Chesuncook Lake include a visit to the quaint Chesuncook Village, the only village in Maine that is accessible only by plane, boat or snowmobile. The village is home to just a handful of year-round residents. One of them is Jack Murphy who operates Chesuncook’s only store. He sells only a few items in the store, but a day trip to Jack's for homemade root beer or a root beer float is always a pleasant experience.
This is a 3 night/4 day trip or if your schedule permits, you can extended the trip to make it 4 nights and 5 days. This canoe trip is all lake paddling, and is a great spring, summer or fall trip. A trip through history, Chesuncook Lake is another Maine treasure worth seeing and experiencing!
